Alberta Hunting License

All anglers and hunters must purchase a WIN card (WIN Number) before purchasing any licence or wildlife certificate. The same card is used to purchase both hunting and fishing licences.
A WIN card costs $8.00 (plus GST) and is valid for five years, at which point it can be renewed the same way it was purchased. There is no limit to the number of times you renew your WIN card.
A permanent WIN card will be mailed to you within approximately 3-5 weeks. You do not need to wait for your WIN card to arrive to purchase licences.
To hunt migratory game birds in Alberta, Canada, you must have all 4 needed Licenses:

  • Alberta WIN# (Wildlife Identification Number)

  • Alberta Gamebird Licences
  • Federal Migratory Game Bird Hunting Permit*

*Federal Migratory Game Bird Permit can be bought online after August 1st at the following link or at any Cabela’s in Canada: (Post Offices are unreliable places to purchase)

The unsigned form must be presented in triplicate, to a Canada Customs officer at your first point of entry into Canada. There is a minimal fee which is not included in the price of the hunt.

***If needed, Alberta Goose Outfitters can provide rental shotguns to hunter with advanced notice $50/day.
***Your guide will always carry a spare shotgun in the even a client’s personal shotgun fails during a hunt.
***In Alberta farm country firearm stores are always close by if the purchase of a new shotgun is needed.

Lodging and Meals

Option 1: Hunting Cabin at the Farm:

A 1000 sqft rustic cabin located at the Fuzzy Wuzzy Cattle Company, home base for Alberta Goose Outfitters, is a great place to relax after the days hunt. The 3 bedroom (5 bed) cabin will be sure to provide you with cozy comfort & warmth needed to rest up for the next day’s adventure. There is plenty of room to socializing around the outdoor fire pit, covered deck or dinning room table. The cabin has an indoor wash room, complete with shower.  Cabin is heated by 2 wood stoves with lots of room to dry out wet gear. Cabin has a small 3 burner propane cook stove & big BBQ and coffee makers for groups to cook for themselves. There is plenty of room to park RVs at the farm as well for those that like to travel with their own accommodations, yet be near their hunting buddies.

Note:  Cabin is 70kms from the nearest restaurant & unfortunately the best cook ever has retired, sold her farm and moved to be closer to her family. Sorry for anyone that got spoiled with Sharron’s cooking in the past and was looking forward to it again.

Retriever dogs are welcome and the farm is complete with 2 retired labs that love attention.

Lodge is rented out at only a $100 per night / per hunting group  (which is the end of stay cleaning fee)

Option 2: Hotel & Restaurants in Westlock, Alberta:

If  more comfortable accommodations are your thing, the best option is to stay in a hotel in the nearest town being Westlock, Alberta. Westlock has several clean & modern hotels along with plenty of restaurants to choose from. If needed, door to door pick up and drop off to the hunting fields can be arranged and provided by the outfitter.
